Rachel (02:18.54)
Yeah, yeah, of course, of course. All right, are you guys ready to talk Halloween?
Nick (02:23.864)
I'm ready.
Amy (02:24.198)
I'm ready.
Rachel (02:25.456)
All right, I'm gonna borrow a phrase that Nick used the other day. Let's boo this. You knew where I was going with that, right, Nick?
Nick (02:27.726)
Classic. I was waiting for you to say it.
Rachel (02:34.446)
All right, well, let's jump in. So let's start by talking about everything that's new at Disney for Halloween 2025. So let's jump in with what new experiences are confirmed for this year. Why don't we start over at Disney World, Nick?
Nick (02:48.174)
Sounds great. Super excited about everything happening over at Walt Disney World. Particularly excited about the brand new Disney Starlight Dream the Night Away Parade. It is iconic. There are some incredible floats. We've gotten the opportunity to see it a few times. It's just quintessential magic and it brings such a flair to nighttime at the Magic Kingdom. It feels good to have a nighttime parade back at Walt Disney World for sure. It's been a while since we've had one. So we're super excited about that. So that's definitely on your Campmas.
list when you visit the parks during the Halloween season. And then also Jack Skellington's face. So he has he's he's got a glow up at Magic Kingdom for the Halloween party this year. And it's just it looks absolutely incredible. It just feels quintessential Jack Skellington. He's obviously the pumpkin king. So he's got to be on your list during the Halloween season. And he looks fantastic.
Rachel (03:24.434)
Ha
Rachel (03:43.9)
He looks so cool. Awesome.
Amy (03:46.223)
He does, you can tell I'm a little bit of a fan myself.
Rachel (03:49.746)
You
Nick (03:49.824)
Yeah, I was going to say, Amy, I love your shirt.
Rachel (03:53.606)
Very on theme, very on theme. Well, that segues us over to Disneyland. Amy, what's new over at Disneyland this year for Halloween?
Amy (04:00.913)
Well, Halloween time is one of my favorite times of the year to visit Disneyland. However, we have to talk about the 70th this year because there's some elements of the 70th that will remain during the Halloween season, as well as nods to the 70th throughout the resort in terms of decor. So we'll definitely get into that a little bit later and how that affects your planning. We have some new costumes for Mickey and Minnie and their friends in town square this year. They have a 70th spin.
to the designs, but with the Halloween colors. And we also have a new look for Jack Skellington, and he's not just at the party. He is a meet and greet that you can do every day of Halloween time in New Orleans Square. So I'm really excited to see the new round Jack Skellington head. And then Oogie Boogie Bash has some, a couple new characters. So that's...
That's what's new. also have a new character dining experience at Storytellers that we will get into later as well.
Rachel (05:04.23)
Awesome, lots of new fun coming to both parks this year. When it comes to new and returning things, what are you each most excited about for Halloween time this year?
Nick (05:16.022)
I am particularly excited about the Boo to You Parade. There is something about standing on Main Street USA at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. As soon as the music starts, I am transported immediately into the Halloween spirit. Like I am ready to get my boo on and it's a great time. So that is always a highlight for me. I love it so much. And then also just Mickey pumpkins. When you walk into Magic Kingdom and you come around the train station and see all of the pumpkins,
in the plaza and down Main Street. It's just so festive and it just brings you right into the spooky season.
Rachel (05:53.68)
Iconic, iconic. How long does that Booty You Parade song last in your head over the next few weeks, Nick?
Nick (05:59.503)
I think it's there until Halloween night and then when I wake up on November 1st, all of a sudden it's all Christmas in my mind. yeah, she washes it out.
Rachel (06:06.61)
It's just Mariah Carey instantly.
I love it. So fun. Amy, what about you? What are you most excited about for Halloween this year?
Amy (06:15.931)
Well, I am always excited to walk into Disneyland and see the giant Mickey pumpkin right there in town square. The streets are lined with pumpkins. It is the best time of year to take your photos and people line up to take a picture with both sides because each side of Mickey pumpkin is a little bit different. But I feel like my most excited thing this year is to see the Jacks going to.
Rachel (06:40.124)
Very fun. Well, let's dig in a little bit deeper and talk through key offerings on each coast. We talked about what's new. Let's dive into the highlights at each of these resorts. So Amy, let's start with Disney Land. Can you break down kind of the key offerings for the spooky season this year for us?
Amy (06:56.293)
So at Disneyland, which is a little bit different from at Magic Kingdom, we have decor every day of the year. We have offerings. Like our stuff isn't just, let's do that over. At Disneyland, it's a little bit different from Magic Kingdom in that we have decorations up every day of the season. We have ride overlays, special fireworks, and all of this is available with your regular daytime ticket.
The park entrances are decorated. In fact, Oogie Boogie is up over the Disney California Adventure entrance.
Rachel (07:34.854)
You know what I think is fun too about that Oogie Boogie over the entrance is that he talks to you. I didn't realize that for the longest time that I walked by and heard him laughing and I was like, well, where did that come from? It's so cool.
Amy (07:46.381)
It is really fun and sometimes a little startling. And he also does that inside the park. So that is, it's fun when that happens.
Rachel (07:49.522)
You
Nick (07:55.565)
I love how your characters, you walk into the park, not only are you seeing that giant Mickey pumpkin, but I love how creative Mickey and friends get with their costumes every year. I love that it changes. It's always new and fresh and exciting. And it's always a fun surprise to see what the character costumes are going to look like. And like I said, they really do a good job. I've talked to them a couple of times and Minnie's told me that she and Daisy are primarily the ones that take care of the costuming, but they all do a fantastic job.
Amy (07:55.935)
Nick (08:24.44)
Whoever's doing the creative vision behind it, kudos.
Amy (08:29.477)
They do do a good job and they are different every year in Disneyland Park. They're usually the same every year in Disney California Adventure. However, the daytime costumes are different from the ones during the Oogie Boogie Bash, which is the Halloween party at night. So sometimes you can get the characters in multiple costumes. And that also goes for the cars in Cars Land. They have car-stumes.
Nick (08:50.36)
Yeah, so car stumps, incredible. I love it. Land in general, like throughout the day is such an iconic place to go to during the Halloween season as well. The attention to detail in Cars Land on any given day is incredible, but they really, they beef it up during the Halloween season for sure. There's so many incredible decorations.
Rachel (08:52.316)
So cool. Super fun.
Amy (09:11.587)
Absolutely, it is really good, both daytime and especially at night. I love going in at night. It is gorgeous.
Rachel (09:21.276)
Such a vibe. And what about a Oogie Boogie Bash, Amy? I know that that one is separately ticketed versus everything that you just mentioned that's included with your admission. What can people expect from the Halloween party over there?
Amy (09:33.041)
So the Oogie Boogie Bash takes place about three times a week, which means that Disney California Adventure is gonna close early those nights. It closes at 6 p.m. People have a ticket can get into the park at 3 p.m. So it's about three hours of mix in time. And you're going to see during the actual party time characters in costumes, there are rare characters that come out to meet people in the parks and there are trick or treat trails. And what's pretty unique about this party and
This also goes for Mickey's not so scary is that adults can trick or treat too. You can wear costumes in the park. Um, it's, it's so much fun to be able to go trick or treating and you get to see a parade. There's a special parade that only runs during the Halloween party, the frightfully fun parade. Um, there's all kinds of just, there's fun music projection. It's just, it's a really good time. It's a really special time.
Rachel (10:31.002)
It's a super fun event.
Amy (10:32.826)
It is.
Nick (10:34.222)
I've always been blown away. Yeah, I was going to say I've always been blown away. I've only I've only actually gotten the opportunity to go one time. It was a few years ago, but I was blown away by the characters, the rare characters that they put on some of the treat trails. Typically, they're villains. I believe those are incredible. And the one character in particular that blew me away was Ernesto de la Cruz. Oh, my gosh. The details on makeup and just everything that went into that whole experience. His voice was incredible. He I I
Rachel (10:34.436)
Nick, have you gone?
Nick (11:04.172)
I mean, obviously I was looking at a nestle, they like cruise, but it was really a nestle, they like cruise and next mind. So it was, it was really cool. Yeah. And, just the perfect amount of like creepy, like he's very like animated. but also, yeah, it just, the, the entire event for me, the, thing that like made it were the, characters that you get to see through all of the tree trails. were.
Amy (11:10.661)
He sings. Yeah.
Rachel (11:10.78)
He's so lifelike. Yeah, it's so cool.
Rachel (11:17.362)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (11:29.374)
were next level and we didn't we didn't get the opportunity to see all of them because they're so popular and there's people get so excited about these characters it was fun it was actually also my first time in dca so i definitely should have utilized some of undercover tourist park plans because your boy was walking around like where am i going what am i doing right now so
Rachel (11:41.671)
Yeah.
Amy (11:48.517)
We do have several Oogie Boogie Bash blog posts, touring plan or park plan. Should I start that over? Okay. We do have some really great Oogie Boogie Bash blog posts, park plans and events to like what to do when at that party so that you can maximize your time.
Rachel (11:57.073)
No, go ahead.
Amy (12:11.089)
You definitely are not going to want to use that night to go on a lot of rides. So it's better if you have another park day that you can do the ride so that you can just save the party stuff during the party. And yeah, our characters are so good in their treat trails. They're more of on a stage. You're not like going to meet and greet them, but they will talk to you. You can take a selfie with them. You can snap photos. They'll interact with you. They're so engaging. think last year, of the best newest characters was Hades.
He gets a little hot a few times and changes color. He burns up and it's, it's, want to see him at night. So I would save Hades for when it's dark out because the lighting and his stage and all the effects really look so cool at night.
Nick (12:44.489)
Yeah.
Rachel (12:44.878)
You
Rachel (12:58.06)
awesome. Do you have a favorite villain or character that you've ever met at Oogie Boogie?
Amy (13:04.071)
my goodness, my favorite, I've met it, Oogie Boogie. So I don't think he's back this year, but Sid from Toy Story is great. He is warped, he has some of his toy creations out. He talks to the audience, he insults you as you walk by him. He's so mean and believable, he looks just like Sid. Like it's like meeting Sid from Toy Story.
Nick (13:32.175)
I love it. I feel like that enhances the experience so much more. It creates such an immersive experience for you because like you said, it's not your traditional meet and greet where you're waiting in line and walking up and getting a moment with the character. You're walking by them. But I think that that creates such a really cool opportunity for the characters to get, I mean, most of them are villains. So they're typically gonna be a little snarky with you as you walk by. And I remember Mother Gothel.
Rachel (13:32.238)
true bully.
Nick (13:57.495)
she was, she had lots of things to say as we walked by and got our treats and it was fun. It was so entertaining. I think that added to the experience so much for sure. And also we got so much candy when we went to Uggie Boogie Bash. Like there was just endless supplies of candy for sure.
Amy (14:15.755)
yes, you need to save your back and be careful about how much candy you get because they, you also need to bring another bag. Like the bag they give you will last you maybe two treat trails and then it's going to be full. So you need to bring a backpack or something else. I even, get a locker and I start stashing the candy in the locker. So I don't have to carry it around. But if you had a stroller, that's another good use for the bottom of that stroller is to dump the candy.
Rachel (14:16.124)
Yeah.
Nick (14:22.901)
Yeah, yeah.
Nick (14:29.848)
Yeah, it was.
Nick (14:34.255)
Hahaha
Nick (14:38.222)
That's wisdom. That's wisdom. Yeah, we, we, we maximize our candy. And then another highlight that I remember from the event was getting to experience. And you're to have to help me with this, Amy, because I'm an East coast guy, but we got to experience the ride overlay with, it was the guardians of the galaxy, Monsters After Dark. was going to say Monsters Unleashed for some reason, but that would not have been correct.
Amy (14:57.593)
Monsters After Dark.
Amy (15:05.553)
So what's really interesting about that ride layover is that in the morning, it's the regular guardians and then they close it between about two to three PM and then it switches to monsters after dark. in the daytime ride, Rocket has turned off the power to the building and released all the monsters, but it turns out Groot got lost. He needs to go back in there and get him. So when you go in, everything's glitching. The lights aren't working. stuff is, video's not working. Everything is
crazy. And you have to go in there and it's a heavy metal soundtrack. And there's this huge monster in there. And it is probably the least Disney thing that Disney's ever done. And I love it. It is so fun. But I wouldn't bring small children on this one. So if you have a kid who maybe likes Guardians, Guardians is lighthearted. This is darker, scarier. And you just have everybody in the ride chanting, monsters after dark. it's a cool experience. But I would
Nick (15:39.586)
So fun.
Nick (15:48.514)
Yeah.
Nick (16:01.463)
You
Amy (16:04.165)
definitely leave your sensitive child out of that one.
Nick (16:07.756)
Yeah, it's a good, it's a fun ride overlay. remember that sticks out from that experience for me, the characters and then riding, riding that. we, we did that. Like one of the first things that we did for, for our time at Oogie Boogie Bash is we went and hopped onto that ride because it did open. Like it was one of the first things that opened up for us. and then the rest of our time we dedicated to tree trails. It was so much fun. I loved it.
Amy (16:30.635)
There are two other family-friendly ride overlays in Disney California Adventure. So in Cars Land, have Luigi's Honkin' Halloween and Mater's Graveyard Jambouree. And so that just gets like some lighting and fun Halloween music. So that is definitely one you could bring your smaller tadpoles to. And then of course, in Disneyland, have Haunted Mansion Holiday.
Nick (16:45.676)
Wow.
Amy (16:59.941)
which is the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the Haunted Mansion. Yeah.
Nick (17:04.084)
I love that version so much. it were up to me, I'd get to experience that so many more times throughout the year because it is, is, it has done so well. The details are incredible and it's also just a fun change up. And I love that it sticks around too. It's not just a Halloween thing for you guys. I love that it sticks around through the holiday season as well.
Amy (17:21.997)
It does. runs until about usually at least through the first week of January. And I love that we get two versions of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland because it's like two different rides.
Nick (17:32.396)
Yeah. And it's also great that you were saying this earlier, but you guys have so many offerings that are not specific to Oogie Boogie bash that guests with their regular tickets can experience like that, getting to experience ride overlays through the Halloween season without having to have a special ticketed event and just it being included in your regular admission is such a fun way to celebrate the Halloween Halloween season for sure.
Amy (17:53.371)
Right.
There's so much to do during Halloween season just with your regular ticket. So if Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are sold out and you can't go, you're going to have so much fun and so much to do.
Nick (18:04.866)
Yeah, I love it.
Rachel (18:07.472)
Absolutely. And all the Halloween stuff extends throughout the resort too, right Amy? So what's happening outside of theme parks at Disneyland that you might be able to experience?
Amy (18:16.507)
So there are decorations in downtown Disney. There are character dining experiences. So both Storytellers and Goofy's Kitchen have character dining for Halloween where the characters are in fall outfits or Halloween costumes. You kind of tend to see maybe last year's costumes that you saw in...
Disneyland make their way over to Goofy's kitchen. So you, if you love those costumes, you can kind of see them again. but we have a brand new one this year, which is Clarabelle's. Clarabelle has a Halloween dinner at Storytellers Cafe. So it's, you can, you know, this is a great thing you can do on arrival day or maybe on your departure day. When you don't have a park ticket, you can go to character dining and have a Halloween experience in downtown Disney. have,
Rachel (18:43.378)
You
Amy (19:10.481)
Pluto's pumpkin pursuit. So you can go search for decorated pumpkins that look like characters and just enjoy the decorations and go into the wonderful world of sweets and get some themed Halloween caramel apples and treats. So there's plenty to do outside the parks as well.
Rachel (19:33.648)
everywhere you look. You know what I love too is inside the Grand California and that, and you're gonna correct me here because I probably won't say it right, but that treat card that they have with like, I think this year it's like a zombie gingerbread. It's so fun to me that you don't have to have a ticket to go experience some of this Halloween fun either.
Amy (19:50.329)
Right. It is a Mickey skeleton gingerbread cookie this year. there's other Halloween treats there as well. And then there's usually this huge. Confection a cake last year, it was the witch from Snow White with a cauldron, but in the past it's been Oogie boogie. So we don't know what we're getting this year, but yeah, it's really cool to just go into the lobby of the grand Californian, get some treats, see this amazing confectionary design that they make and just.
Nick (19:53.995)
I love it.
Amy (20:19.717)
You know, get some Halloween vibes that way too.
Rachel (20:23.26)
I love it. Thanks for the overview, Amy. We appreciate it. Let's go back to talking about Halloween in general. What is your must do every year for Halloween?
Amy (20:36.283)
Well, my must do since I am a ride girly is to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday, ride Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark. Like I need to do those things. I need to meet Jack Skellington and Sally. I need to get all of the Halloween treats. I'm, I'm supposed I was supposed to give you one, but like they're, it's all just like part of the experience.
Rachel (20:56.306)
I was going to say.
Nick (21:01.0)
difficult to choose.
Rachel (21:01.212)
You know, I know, a girl after her own heart, there is not just one. There are several things that you must do, but I love it. I think that's helpful. Awesome. Well, thanks, Amy. So we've talked a little bit about everything that's going on at the Disneyland Resort for Halloween. Nick, let's transition over to Disney World. Why don't you give us the scoop on everything that's going on over at Disney World this year for Halloween time?
Amy (21:03.546)
You
Nick (21:23.534)
You know, one of the things that tends to be like the focal point is Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. That's where the Halloween is turned up all the way to the max for sure. And Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. is an absolute blast. It's one of my favorite ticketed events throughout the year. and like I said, it starting off with food to you parade, it immediately just like gets me in the zone. it transports me into, to Halloween season in the middle of August. And I love it so much. It's the best.
Rachel (21:32.69)
You
Nick (21:50.139)
there are so many fun things that Mickey's not so scary Halloween party though, outside of Bootsy you parade. You've got the Hocus Pocus villain spectacular that are spell tacky. I'm so sorry. The witches would be so disappointed in me. but that is a lot of fun. You've, you've got all your favorite villains incorporated into that show. and obviously the Sanderson sisters are, are, are the main focal point. and they're always a blast. It's always, it's always, I like to end my night.
with the Spelltacular. That's like the last thing that I do at night. And it's like the kiss on Mickey's not so scary Halloween parade for me, or for a party for me. It's just the best way to end it. So that's a lot of fun. Trick or treating. Obviously we get a lot of candy here at Walt Disney World as well. I remember one of our, guys can actually watch this vlog on our YouTube channel, but Ryan and I had a little bit of a competition last year to see who could get more candy. I beat him. Don't let him tell you anything otherwise.
Rachel (22:19.826)
Mm-hmm.
Rachel (22:41.456)
Hahaha
Nick (22:45.646)
Um, but that was a lot of fun. We, did, we maxed out on our candy for sure. Um, and last year it was pretty cool. There was a couple of like fun villains that we had on some of our treat trails as well. So you never know what you're going to get. There's always surprises around every corner. Um, and it's always fun to, to make your way around the park. I love the party exclusive food. They are like, they really go all out for food and it feels like every year it just continues to get better and better.
I look forward to those menus dropping every year because then I immediately start to like chart my course and say, okay, what are the top things that I wanna try this year and what are some returning favorites that I have to have? There's a pumpkin cheesecake that's back this year. It's absolutely delicious. I could eat it so many times. It's fantastic. But yeah, so fun food for sure.
Rachel (23:29.682)
Mm.
Nick (23:38.775)
at the party. And then my particular favorite thing as well, like Amy said, at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party are the ride overlays. Space Mountain gets a ride overlay and it is next level. It's unlike anything that you've experienced with Space Mountain before. You may have ridden Space Mountain and been like, wow, it's really dark in there. This really turns it up a notch. And no pun intended because it's actually not, nothing's turned up. It's actually turned all the way down with all the lights being completely off. So it's really fun. It really like takes you
Rachel (24:03.036)
Hehehehehe
Nick (24:08.16)
out of your senses in some ways, because when you eliminate the ability to see on a coaster, you have no idea what to prepare for. And if you've ever ridden Space Mountain, it's definitely one that you like to have a little bit of a way to prepare yourself some. So that's a lot of fun. That is my favorite thing to do outside of the parade at the party for sure. And then we get. yeah. They do. They my boys, I have a yeah, I have a nine year old and a seven year old, and they are little thrill seekers for sure. So they.
Amy (24:26.033)
That sounds so fun.
Rachel (24:26.354)
Dear boys, yeah, dear boys, write it.
brave.
Nick (24:37.698)
They don't say no to much when it comes to rides and attractions. So it's something that they definitely love to experience. They love the party so much. They love the fireworks. You've got the special Halloween fireworks. Disney's not so spooky spectacular. That is a blast as well. And it's definitely something that you can't miss, especially because we get this massive Jack Skellington puppet in front of the castle. So that's a lot of fun.
And then that's just the party. So the fun is, is outside of Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. I kudos to Disney because I really think that they've done such an excellent job of like continuing to expand the Halloween celebrations year after year. Like, like Amy was saying, how Disneyland is pretty much taken over when it comes to Halloween. I'm, I'm, I'm getting that vibe more and more every year from Walt Disney World. And it's so exciting. A couple of years ago, they introduced what you guys have in.
Rachel (25:10.236)
Yeah.
Nick (25:36.93)
downtown Disney, we have it over at Epcot. It's Pluto's pumpkin pursuit, which is a lot of fun. It's my boys really love the scavenger hunts. In fact, sometimes we split up and my wife will take one boy and I'll take the other and we see who can complete the map first as we make our way around Epcot, which is a fun little way to do the scavenger hunts over there.
Rachel (25:56.816)
Yeah, and we should specify on both coasts that's absolutely free to participate in, right?
Nick (26:00.993)
Correct. Yeah, well, you.
Amy (26:02.739)
no, at Disneyland, it's usually 9.99 and you have stickers you put on it and you get a little prize at the end. I do you get a prize at Disney World? Okay.
Rachel (26:04.146)
sorry.
Nick (26:06.966)
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. So you, you buy the map and then the map, once you complete it can turn into a prize for you, which is it's totally worth it. And in Walt Disney world, I don't know about this over at Disney, but at Walt Disney world, you can use your annual pass holder discount on those maps as well. If you do have an annual pass. So, that is, it's a fun activity to do with the kiddos during the Halloween season for sure at Epcot. So.
Rachel (26:32.614)
Yeah. Let me retake that because the was not at Disney charging for it. It will come across that way, but that was at me saying that it was free when it was not. I'm just going to say, for people who want to do Pluto's pumpkin pursuit, how can they do that?
Nick (26:40.994)
Yeah.
Nick (26:45.774)
Yeah, they, do you want me to repeat it or just leave it as is? Okay. Cut it, okay. No, no, no, you're good. And then of course that's at Epcot, but you've got special treats. Like I mentioned, you have special treats specific to the party. You also have special treats that are available all across Walt Disney World. It's not limited to just Magic Kingdom or Epcot or specific parks. It's literally all over the place. They've got it.
Rachel (26:49.21)
No, no, no. I just think that we can move those around. Sorry to interrupt your flow there, Nick.
Nick (27:15.05)
At all the resorts have special offerings. know there's like a pumpkin soft serve at the Polynesian that I love to get. It's very tasty. It's where you would typically get your Dole Whip over at Pineapple and I. So that's amazing. But I'm a sucker for anything pumpkin. If you can't tell by the sweatshirt that I'm wearing. But like I said, there's incredible treats at the resorts.
Disney Springs gets an overhaul of treats available to you. All of the restaurants like to jump in and participate with special food offerings as well. This year for the first time ever, Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar has a special Halloween overlay. So that's very exciting and something cool to experience. At the rest of the parks, Hollywood Studios gets some specific treats as well. But they also have a special dining experience over at Hollywood and Vine. Minnie and her friends take over with their
their Halloween costumes and it's always fun to see what those look like every year. So that's a fun character dining experience as well. Yeah, it's literally becoming all over Walt Disney World and I love it because the more Halloween that I can get, the better.
Rachel (28:23.526)
Yeah, and things that you just mentioned would be included sometimes in your park admission. The stuff that you mentioned at Disney Springs doesn't even involve a park ticket. That would all be something you can just pop over and experience.
Nick (28:33.528)
Correct. Yeah, especially I know a lot of people who like to on their check in and check out day. Like that's the day that they like to be able to head over to Disney Springs. So if you're coming down for a trip during the Halloween season and like that's your focal point, why not get started over at Disney Springs and jump in and get some, you know, spooky treats and get to maybe grab a fun drink over at Jock Lindsay's. It is really, really special to see the amount of treats that they have over there this year for sure.
Rachel (29:01.18)
So much. All right, Nick, what is one thing that people sometimes miss, but that you consider a hidden gem?
Nick (29:12.686)
I have to think about this one for a second.
Rachel (29:14.866)
That's okay. I feel like you already threw it out. I had no idea that there's pumpkin soft serve over at the poly. So you threw a bunch of those out.
Nick (29:20.286)
Yeah, that's a good one for sure. All right. I would say probably a lot of guests who go to Hollywood Studios don't recognize and realize the amount of treats that they have there. I myself have taken a day to go to Hollywood Studios during the Halloween season and specifically focus on the Halloween treats that they have available there because they're so tasty and it's so fun to be able to have the experience of
Rachel (29:40.85)
you
Nick (29:46.167)
of getting those just on your typical day at Hollywood Studios with your regular park ticket. But I also would say Magic Kingdom also has some offerings during regular park hours as well. A lot of people obviously associate the amount of food that you can get specific to the party, but there's a lot of dining opportunities that you can go and enjoy and add to your Halloween experience at Magic Kingdom as well.
And Magic Kingdom obviously is incredible with all of the pumpkins up and down Main Street. It really feels quintessential Halloween. So being able to experience some of those treats during regular park hours is really special as well.
Rachel (30:23.782)
I love it. That's a great tip. And just like Amy mentioned having park plans and itineraries to make the most of your party nights, we also have foodie guides on either coast. So that way you don't miss out on any new churro flavors over at Disneyland. And you can see all of those Halloween treats that Nick mentioned over at Hollywood Studios and across Disney World Resort. So we will link to those in the description as well.
Amy (30:45.305)
Yeah, the list is massive at Disneyland. We don't have as much exclusive party food. There's a few exclusive items at the Oogie Boogie Bash, but all of the Halloween time treats that are available during the day are also available during the party. So there's just a huge menu of things to choose from.
Rachel (31:05.596)
You know what I saw on your foodie guide that I hadn't actually, I think, asked you about before, or maybe it was at Disney World, you guys will have to correct me, but I saw corn flavored soft serve.
Nick (31:15.788)
Yeah, we've had that before. We've had that before at world for sure. And it is so tasty. I love it so much. Yeah. Yeah. So it's, it tastes like, have you ever had like condensed corn? Is it sweetened condensed corn? that what it's called? Or like corn out of a can? Cream corn out of a can. Yeah. That's basically what it tastes like. It is, it is so good. I love it. It's, it's got the juice. Let's just say that it's, it's amazing for sure.
Rachel (31:17.072)
Was that it, world?
Rachel (31:22.554)
Is it? that's right! Was that last year, two years ago?
Rachel (31:32.68)
like cream corn almost?
Amy (31:34.427)
Yeah.
Amy (31:44.241)
Nick, I think we need to swap places so I can go to not so scary and you can come out for Oogie Boogie Bash.
Nick (31:46.991)
I would love that. I'd offer to send you some of the soft serve corn ice cream, but I don't think it would make it to California in time, unfortunately.
Amy (31:58.565)
I don't think so, but yeah. And I'm also so jealous that you have shows at your castle. There's like stage shows. Like we don't have that at Disneyland, but we do have Halloween screams every night during the weekend. You get fireworks added to it during the week. It may just be projection shows, but we do have really good. That's one of my favorite parts of the Halloween season is the fireworks.
Nick (32:04.674)
Yeah, that's really special. Yeah.
Nick (32:19.841)
Yeah.
Nick (32:23.756)
I remember watching, cause we had our tickets to Oogie Boogie Bash and I remember being like on our way into Oogie Boogie Bash and seeing the fireworks happening over at Disneyland. And it was, it was so cool. Obviously as a, as a Walt Disney World guy, we don't get the opportunity to see what's going on in the other park. When you're walking into one, ours are obviously more spread out. So it was really cool to see the fireworks from a distance there. I haven't got to see those fireworks in person before. So.
Amy (32:50.491)
So they're pretty cool, actually. there's this zero flies over the castle. And then there's this giant like ball or circle that Jack Skellington's face goes, it's projected onto and other villains throughout the show. And so this is one of the times that I will camp out closer to the castle to see that show because I love being there for those effects. And this year, what you have to do is you need to plan out
your paint the night viewing for the paint the night parade with the fireworks because the paint the night parade runs down Main Street. And then as soon as the parade ends, the fireworks start. And then after the fireworks end about an hour later is the second paint the night parade. So you do need to this year, plan out your strategy for having a good castle viewing as well as a good paint the night viewing. If you want to see the first parade, I suggest like Main Street or in the hub. and then when the parade ends, you'll just
hop into the street, you should be able to see the castle really well from any of those spots or get your ideal fireworks location and then stay up late and see the second parade. It's a lot easier to just hop on a curb after the parade or the fireworks end and have a great spot to watch both.
Nick (34:08.738)
I got to watch Paint the Night for the first time at a frog hop earlier this year. Incredible, absolutely incredible. I loved it so much. Yeah. You're talking about strategy and Rachel, if it's okay, I wanted to give a couple points too on Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. So just to note on party nights, Magic Kingdom does close at 6 p.m. because Mickey's Not So Scary is a specially ticketed event, which you can save on those tickets if you book those through Undercover Tourist, by the way. But just a little hop tip for you there.
Amy (34:13.111)
Ugh, it's the best. It's my favorite parade.
Rachel (34:21.253)
Yeah, please do.
Nick (34:37.836)
But on those party nights, it's important to note that the Magic Kingdom does close early. So if you're there just with your regular park ticket, they will do like they'll they'll, you know, make sure everybody who's not there for the party leaves the park. So the party is reserved for those party guests and party guests can enter the park as early as four p.m. So that does give you a little bit of a window to experience Magic Kingdom as it's, you know, during like as a regular day guest almost with your party ticket and getting in.
in those exclusive like window early. But I did wanna say, this is a little bit of a tip that I've experienced just in visiting the parks on these days, because Magic Kingdom on a night that it has Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party that evening, a lot of people tend to avoid Magic Kingdom that day, which makes sense because if you have a single day ticket, you're gonna wanna maximize your time at whatever park you're going to. However, if you have a park hopper,
It's not a bad idea to start at Magic Kingdom that day, knowing that you're going to hop to a different park for maybe some nighttime entertainment, because Magic Kingdom tends to be a little less crowded during the daytime, during, during regular park operating hours on a night that there will be a Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. You'll notice that the crowds do pick up a little bit after 4pm because all the party guests are starting to arrive. But I have noticed that like wait times for attractions tend to be a little bit low. And if, if you're
If you're wanting to experience Halloween at Magic Kingdom and don't have a party ticket, it's a great way to do that by experiencing all of the things that are offered during regular park hours. And then you can obviously hop over to another park and get continue the magic and get to see maybe you hop over to Hollywood Studios and have dinner with Minnie and friends at Hollywood and Vine and then can go watch Fantasmic. But there's obviously a lot to do at the other parks during the evenings.
But I've always recommended anytime that I have friends or family coming in town and they ask me, should we go to Magic Kingdom that day? I say, if you have a park hopper, yes, go take advantage of what tends to be a little bit lower in crowds on those days.
Amy (36:38.831)
I fully agree. Same thing at Disneyland. on the day that there's an Oogie Boogie bash, fewer people are going to be visiting California adventure during the day. Cause we still make park reservations at Disneyland. So if your people are going to choose that day, cause they know it closes at six. However, you're going to have a less crowded day. You're going to have a great time. And then you can, if you have a park hopper, you can hop over to Disneyland. I will say Disneyland will get a little busier party time just because it's so easy to hop.
Rachel (36:38.884)
That's such a great tip.
Amy (37:08.497)
You just walk across the Esplanade and you're in the other park. But yeah, I definitely say visit California Adventure during the day on the nights that it has a party and then pick a different night to go back and experience it at night because it is so beautiful at night.
Nick (37:24.75)
And yeah, that's amazing. Anyways, hi.
Amy (37:27.045)
And there's also some really cool stuff during the day over in Plaza de la Familia. There's a Coco show and this Coco puppet plays a guitar. He closes his eyes. He sings. He's so fun. He's really fun to watch. So definitely you want to take advantage of some of those things during the day as well.
Rachel (37:27.228)
Fantastic.
Nick (37:45.39)
I love it.
Rachel (37:45.99)
That's awesome. Great tips, guys. How about entertainment? I know Amy touched on this, but any other tips or strategies you want to share with people about when and where to watch entertainment for the Halloween season?
Nick (37:58.403)
I have one other quick note. I mentioned Disney Starlight, which is the new parade nighttime parade over at Magic Kingdom. That will not be happening on nights that there is a Mickey's not so scary Halloween party at Magic Kingdom. So plan your trip accordingly because it should be on your camp miss list. Like you're going to want to watch this brand new parade when you visit Walt Disney World. So you'll definitely want to plan your Magic Kingdom day on a night where there's not a party so that you can experience that parade for sure.
Amy (38:23.321)
And that goes for the Oogie Boogie Bash. At Disney California Adventure, we have World of Color Happiness, which is the 70th version of World of Color for the 70th anniversary. It does not show on party nights. So if you want to catch that, you also want to visit Disney California Adventure on a night that does not have an Oogie Boogie Bash.
Rachel (38:44.37)
Smart. Smart.
Amy (38:45.649)
And then during the day at Disneyland, there is a Halloween cavalcade. It is short and sweet. It's usually about 1.30 or 2.45. There are two each day. And it is a great way to see a lot of characters without a lot of time investment. You don't have to camp out first, but you just kind of go out to the parade route when it's coming by, see it all go by. It's really fun. It's sweet. The characters are in their costumes and, um,
I say definitely, like, that's a must see, especially if you have small children.
Rachel (39:20.528)
I love it. That's so smart. And that was going to be my next question to you guys is any advice on these character meet and greets? Because I know some of these characters are in super high demand. So any strategy or tips there?
Amy (39:34.139)
So at Disneyland in Town Square, the characters are in their new costumes. So they're gonna be pretty popular. But generally, they're not gonna be meeting when there's a cavalcade. But if you go to Town Square after the cavalcade ends, the characters will be coming out shortly. So that's a good time to like see them come out. You can usually see them coming out near the Mad Hatter. And sometimes you can follow them to the spot.
that they're going to meet and be one of the first people to meet them. Sometimes there is a handler who was in the spot where a character is going to arrive before they get there. If you see one of them, stand near them, chances are a character is going to be showing up soon. So there are ways to get it with shorter wait times.
just usually after characters have been out, that's a good time, because they'll be coming back. And you can also ask the people who have like character tags on, they can usually tell you when a character is generally going to be in the area.
Rachel (40:40.956)
Great advice. Right about now, you can probably see why Amy and Nick were like the perfect people to come on and talk about this because if it was me listening at home, I'd be like trying to take notes, but don't worry about taking notes. We're gonna have all of this. Amy helps with our blog. So everything that she's talking about is going to be in select blogs. Nick's advice too. So again, we'll make sure that all of this is linked out so that way you've got easy access to it.
Nick (41:02.934)
Yeah. And a lot of this content, we also share a lot on our social media channels for you to be able to like save those pieces. so check out, check us out on Instagram, at theme park frog and also on tick tock at undercover tourist as well. Cause we, we do, we try to push a lot of this, these tips. We love to pull our tips and tricks from our blog posts and then turn them into pieces of content that you can carry around with you. when you're visiting these, these parties, quick access to them. So it's like having.
Rachel (41:29.136)
Yeah, and some of those infographics we mentioned too, you'll run on social too, Nick. So keep an eye out.
Nick (41:31.682)
Yeah, absolutely. Yep.
Amy (41:35.345)
And then if you do want to meet Jack and Sally in New Orleans Square, they tend to be like mid to late morning until like the afternoon. So try to, you can look in the Disneyland app and you can see them in there. And then if you tap on them, it'll show you the times that they're supposedly out. So sometimes it might be just one or the other. Sometimes it's both that kind of is just luck of the drop. But yeah, you can definitely look in the Disneyland app to see the character meet and greet times as well.
Rachel (42:05.586)
Very good. All right, let's close out this tips and strategy section with your top tip for the season. Nick, do you wanna kick us off with your best piece of advice to somebody that's visiting Disney World for the holidays or Halloween season?
Nick (42:20.522)
Yeah, I think in my mind, this is going to sound funny because there's so much to be able to do at Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. I'm going to focus on the Halloween party because it's the cream de la crème of your experience at at at. Yeah, I was going to say that actually. But I it's funny because there's going to be so much that you want to do and so much that you want to be able to accomplish.
Rachel (42:33.01)
It's the cream corn.
Amy (42:36.197)
You
Nick (42:44.502)
Realistically, it's almost impossible to do everything on the list at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. So I think going into it with realistic expectations that, you know, look at our park, like look at our park pans, look at our blog posts, look at our guides for all of these things so that you can pick a few of the things that you value the most and focus on on doing those things. But in some ways, also just relax and slow down and just pay attention to the magic that's happening around you, because Mickey's Not So Scary.
Halloween party creates so many magical moments and so many fun experiences that if you get caught up in like the hustle of bustle and bustle of trying to get, you know, everything crossed off your list, you're going to miss some of those fun moments. I know I'm the, I'm the planner and the family. I'm the, quintessential Disney dad. I go in with, with a mission and, sometimes I have to remind myself, Hey, Nick, slow down, have fun, relax, and then just enjoy the moment because
Rachel (43:29.97)
What?
Nick (43:40.952)
There are so many fun, incredible, special moments. And when you get to finally go to this party, a lot of people get to experience this party for the first time. And I love seeing the excitement in their faces when they get to do that, because it's, it's truly so special. But there's a, there's a lot of things that you could miss if you don't just slow down, take your time and have fun for sure.
Rachel (44:00.818)
That's a great tip.
Amy (44:01.105)
I agree. am also like you, where I am trying to check everything off my list. I want to get a lot done. But I always notice when I slow down at Disneyland that I see so many other things that I wasn't expecting. If I just slow down, a character is coming by, a show moment's going to happen, just really fun interactions that happen when you just slow down and like live in the moment.
Nick (44:21.1)
Yeah. The teams at Disney are so intentional about every decoration and every detail. It's like they, do all of that because they want people to slow down and experience and appreciate it. So I feel like it's, so easy when you finally make it on your trip, you're like, all right, let's go, let's do this. I want to make sure everybody's having a good time and everybody's experiencing everything there is to experience. But especially being a parent, I speak from that perspective as well, but
I can say that like I set the tone and so if I'm relaxed and having a good time, then I think the rest of the family can do that as well. And so yeah, I just it's more fun when you're having fun.
Amy (45:01.905)
Yeah. But that being said, don't find yourself in long lines. You're going to want to mobile order those treats that you want to get. You can even sometimes mobile order popcorn buckets. So don't stand in a long popcorn bucket line. If they're available during mobile order, you can check in the Disneyland app. If you don't see a treat, that's your must have treat on mobile order though, definitely check at the restaurant because sometimes popular items, they will pull off.
Rachel (45:03.804)
Absolutely.
Amy (45:31.255)
So that's just worth sometimes popping into and just being like, do you still have that? And they might. So do that and also be strategic on those Halloween ride overlays because they're more popular because they're limited time, right? But if you go to Haunted Mansion Holiday when it first opens in the morning, the line will be short. If you go during Fantasmic, the line will be much shorter.
You can use Lightning Lane Multipass to book your Haunted Mansion Holiday or Guardians Monsters After Dark. In fact, you can book Guardians in the morning, the regular Guardians on Lightning Lane Multipass, and then you can book the afternoon Monsters After Dark. So you can actually get two Lightning Lanes for that ride that day.
Rachel (46:15.218)
Great tips. Great tips. I'm ready. I'll come see you guys. I'm ready for Halloween time.
Nick (46:19.662)
Let's boo this.
Amy (46:21.487)
Yay!
Rachel (46:23.43)
Let's boo this. All right. Well, let's move on to our last section and that's going to be some Disney Halloween trivia. Are you guys ready? All right. Your name? I promise it's not so scary. See what I did there?
Nick (46:31.65)
I hope so.
Amy (46:32.793)
Yeah, this is a little scary.
Nick (46:37.262)
Wow, she's got jokes.
Rachel (46:40.836)
I know they're not funny, but they're there. All right, so your name is your buzzer. And if you're listening in or watching, make sure you play along and let us know how you did. So name is your buzzer. I'll go through and ask the question and let you guys jump in when you know it. Ready? All right, question number one, who leads both the Boo to You Parade at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the Frightfully Fun Parade at Oogie Boogie Bash?
Nick (46:56.238)
Sounds great.
Nick (47:07.711)
I don't know this one.
Amy (47:07.811)
Amy, I'm going to say Mickey and Minnie, they're the ones who come out in front at the Frightfully Fun Parade.
Rachel (47:09.35)
Go ahead, Amy.
Rachel (47:14.268)
So he kind of precedes it. He lets you know that the parade is coming. One point each. One point each.
Nick (47:17.858)
Nick, Nick, no. I buzzed in correctly there, Amy.
Amy (47:18.206)
the headless horseman!
Yes.
Amy (47:26.297)
Yes, I think Nick got to it probably before me mentally, but yes, I'm sorry. Yes, the headless horseman does march out a few minutes ahead of the parade. And it's a pretty cute moment.
Nick (47:31.052)
No.
Nick (47:38.735)
It's iconic. It is iconic for sure. Him coming, like, if you're standing in a certain location where you can't see him, but you hear like the clicking of the horse coming down Main Street, it is so ominous. It's probably the scariest that Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party can get, which is pretty mild, which I appreciate. And so I love it. I feel like it's right up my scare level for sure. I'm like, ooh, what's coming?
Rachel (48:00.23)
Yeah.
Amy (48:08.943)
And there's a little bit of history, right? Because I don't know if yours do, but they're wearing kind of these like revolutionary clothes with like lanterns leading the way with them. There are some characters with that, so.
Nick (48:18.956)
Yeah, it's, it's, it's out of, Mr. Toads, right? It goodbye crying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're right. Yeah, that's what it is. That's what it is. Good stuff.
Amy (48:23.139)
I thought it was Ichabod Crane?
Rachel (48:25.746)
It's a Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. Yeah, that's my favorite too. Like you said, just hearing the clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap as he's coming is so, so cool. All right, how do we want to divvy that? We're just going to do one in one. This is Disney trivia. Okay, we're going to have to aim. Both of you. All right, point for Rachel.
Nick (48:34.316)
Yeah, I love it.
We'll give it to Amy. We'll give it to Amy. We're about so giving.
Amy (48:40.753)
I'm going to give it to Nick because I think he mentally got there. I was like, I don't understand. Amy over here not understanding the question.
Nick (48:49.198)
Yeah, we'll say that's a disqualified point because Amy didn't hit her buzzer correctly the second time around
Rachel (48:50.898)
I'm just kidding.
Rachel (48:56.186)
Okay. Okay, number two. The eerie incident that begins the cursed story behind the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios took place on Halloween, but what year?
Amy (49:11.327)
I have no idea.
Rachel (49:13.18)
Hollywood trying to get the monologue going in your brain.
Nick (49:14.414)
Yeah, I can hear it, but I can't get there. I can't get it in my head. I don't know.
Amy (49:15.108)
You
1932, I don't know.
Nick (49:23.694)
Is it higher or lower than that? It's got to be in the it's got to be in the 30s or the 20s.
Rachel (49:24.434)
I can't tell you.
Amy (49:27.895)
no, I have no idea.
Amy (49:34.823)
right, is it the 20s?
Nick (49:36.354)
I don't know.
Rachel (49:37.54)
It's Hollywood, 1939. You guys are close to zero. I wonder if anyone listening got it. Let us know. Not the 20s.
Nick (49:39.886)
I wouldn't have gotten there. That's good. That's good. I'm sure they did. I'm sure they were yelling and they're like, come on.
Amy (49:47.023)
I'm sure if I'd it more recently, maybe it would be fresh. I do love that ride and I love that it still exists at Hollywood Studios.
Nick (49:56.395)
I love it. It's perfect.
Rachel (49:58.77)
It's so much fun. All right. Number three, what year did Haunted Mansion Holiday Overlay start at Disneyland?
Nick (50:07.438)
This one's all Amy, I am tapping out on this one. I don't know.
Amy (50:11.9)
my goodness, I know it had.
Rachel (50:16.818)
have ABCD. We can do multiple choice on this one if you would like. So A is okay Amy, you're like hyping yourself up. You got this Amy. A, 2002. B, 1998. C, 1990. Or D, 2001.
Amy (50:17.337)
an anniversary a few years ago, but okay.
Nick (50:18.733)
Yeah, let's do that.
Nick (50:24.044)
Yeah, I heard that. She's like, ready.
Amy (50:35.76)
Amy.
Nick (50:35.786)
Nick. Guy Aimee.
Amy (50:38.353)
I was gonna say 2002.
Rachel (50:42.48)
Nick, what was your guess?
Nick (50:43.766)
I'll go 2001.
Rachel (50:45.65)
It was 2001, so Nick gets it by default.
Nick (50:46.924)
Let's go!
Amy (50:48.485)
Yay, Nick!
Nick (50:50.67)
That was good.
Rachel (50:52.656)
I feel like we're playing Whose Line Is It Anyway, anyway, where it's like, the points don't matter.
Nick (50:54.274)
That's so interesting. didn't realize that had been around for that long. That's really cool. This is gonna sound interesting, but it doesn't feel like that when you go experience it. And I think it changes a little bit every year, right? Like they add something different and something new, but every time that I've gone in and experienced it, it always feels so fresh and new. I love that. It's been around for over 20 years. It's looking great.
Amy (51:15.557)
They definitely changed the gingerbread house that's in the ballroom scene. And it always has a different theme. And I remember a few years ago, they had an anniversary, like 20 year, they had an element from all 20 previous gingerbread houses. But my brain, that would have been in 2021, but I was like, did they even have, did we have Halloween time in 2021? What was going on? Did they do the overlay? I can't remember it because we were still recovering from the pandemic.
Nick (51:28.984)
That's great. That would have been in 2021.
right. There's different times. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Nick (51:43.372)
Right, yeah, that's cool. Good information.
Rachel (51:46.802)
Yeah. All right. Number four, Chewer False. Imagineers produce the audio animatronics figures, props and set pieces for both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World versions of the Haunted Mansion at the same time. Yes, Nick. Amy, would you like to go true just to balance it out?
Nick (52:00.045)
Nick. I'm gonna say false.
Amy (52:07.537)
Sure, I will say true just to...
Nick (52:08.194)
Hahaha.
Rachel (52:10.222)
Amy, that was a great guess.
Nick (52:11.678)
50-50 shot.
Rachel (52:15.314)
So because, yeah, so because I know it feels like it's an attraction that's been around forever, but it actually wasn't, it didn't open at Disneyland until 1969. And they knew that the Disney World version was gonna open a few years later in 1971, since that was a Magic Kingdom opening day attraction. So they just did it all at once.
Nick (52:31.566)
make sense.
Nick (52:36.216)
pay more attention when I watch behind the behind the attraction the stories on Disney plus I gotta focus I gotta lock in yeah
Rachel (52:41.042)
The Imagineering
Rachel (52:45.81)
All right, your name is your buzzer, because I know you'll both know this one. Number five, undercover tourists recently started offering a flexible refundable deposit option. That means that you can lock in your Disneyland hotel stay or your Disney World hotel stay or vacation package for how much right now? Oh, Nick beat you by a hair. Yes, Nick. Yay. All right. Yeah, that's correct.
Nick (53:02.957)
Nick.
Amy (53:03.227)
Amy.
Nick (53:07.022)
$200.
Amy (53:12.901)
He does have one syllable to his name.
Nick (53:15.096)
Ha ha ha ha ha.
Rachel (53:15.569)
Hahaha!
Nick (53:18.254)
I'm at an advantage.
Rachel (53:19.849)
We should have had you both say Mickey or something. Pumpkin. That's right, Nick. So for $200, you can actually lock in your Disneyland or Disney World vacation today and then pay the remaining balance 30 days prior to check-in.
Amy (53:22.555)
Yeah.
Nick (53:34.766)
It's so great to be able to do that and then just project your savings out for the trip. Talking about the planner over here, but yeah, you lock in that trip and then say, okay, this is how much we have to come up with an X number of days before our trip begins. I love it.
Amy (53:47.697)
That's a great change.
Rachel (53:47.858)
Absolutely. We are excited about it for sure. All right, number six. Who is the most recent ghostly addition to the Haunted Mansion on either coast?
Nick (53:58.722)
Nick.
Amy (53:58.874)
Amy.
Rachel (54:00.914)
I'm going to say that was almost a tie, think Nikki were like, that one syllable. It really got you.
Nick (54:04.43)
I know at Walt Disney World is the hat box guest.
Amy (54:11.853)
well, at Disneyland, we have a new bride. We have the bride in the attic. That was a change.
Nick (54:12.11)
Yeah. And also at, oh, is there a different one? Oh.
Rachel (54:19.28)
Yep, there you go, you each get a point.
Nick (54:20.3)
Yeah. Everybody's a winner. Good job, Amy. Good job.
Rachel (54:25.458)
Everybody's a winner for number six.
Rachel (54:30.182)
All right, Disney villains is the theme for number seven. And this one actually threw me for a loop. So I'm interested to see, and I can make a caveat here if you guys know this. So who was the first Disney villain? And I will say there are two potential answers here.
Nick (54:46.657)
Nick?
Rachel (54:48.486)
Go ahead, Nick. Yeah.
Nick (54:49.734)
I, I feel like it could be Pete because of Steamboat Willie, but then I guess if you're looking at full feature animation, it'd be the evil queen.
Rachel (55:03.666)
Yeah, so you're right on both. Here, I was stumped on the first, because I was like, Pete, what do you mean Pete? But yeah, you're right. So in 1925, he was in a short called Alice Solves the Puzzle that predates even Mickey and Oswald. And then he was in Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. So he is technically the first villain after all of his repeated attempts to kidnap poor Minnie Mouse and being Mickey's arch nemesis. But then, yeah, if we're going full feature films, it'd be The Evil Queen from 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. So nice work, Nick.
Nick (55:05.292)
haha
Yeah.
Nick (55:15.32)
Well.
Nick (55:23.561)
Hahaha.
Nick (55:31.854)
Good. That's a good question. Good question.
Amy (55:34.033)
Good job.
Rachel (55:36.826)
All right, we talked about this in this podcast, so the answer is already floating, but who hosts... You got this, you got this. Who hosts both Halloween Screams at Disneyland and Not So Spooky Spectacular at Not So Scary at Disney World? Amy got that one. Yeah, Amy. Yeah. Yay. And you guys both touched on... He is. He's the host with the most for those events, so he makes total sense.
Nick (55:41.912)
man the pressure's on.
Amy (55:51.204)
Amy?
I think it's Jack Skellington. Yay.
Nick (55:56.504)
Good one.
He's a pumpkin king. Yeah, he is. He's so great. And what's so cool is that this is a little tidbit as well, but this is a little looking to the future for sure. We're stepping out of the Halloween season for a second, but because Jack Skellington's all encompassing, you get to see that puppet in front of the castle, which is iconic before the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. But you may or may not also get to see that puppet again.
Rachel (56:21.33)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (56:26.848)
at Jollywood Nights over at Hollywood Studios, which we also sell discount tickets to as well.
Rachel (56:32.515)
It's a good tip. It's a good tip. He came back.
Amy (56:34.161)
I going to Jollywood Nights this year, so I am so excited I will get to see him.
Nick (56:36.726)
that is so exciting. Yes. And it's, so cool. Both ways are both iconic, but getting to see him at Jollywood nights, he's very close. It's really special.
Rachel (56:47.954)
That's a very cool tip. All right. Number nine, Ray Bradbury, famed sci-fi author who penned the classic Fahrenheit 451, actually collaborated with Walt Disney himself on several projects, including Spaceship Earth. Did you know that, Nick?
Amy (56:48.337)
Awesome.
Nick (57:02.798)
No, I didn't know that. That's awesome.
Rachel (57:04.857)
I didn't either. But there is a special Halloween collab at Disneyland that Ray Bradbury... I knew I wouldn't even need to finish that one. Go ahead, Amy. Tell us about it.
Amy (57:09.295)
Amy.
Nick (57:10.478)
I never stood a chance.
Amy (57:15.537)
Well, it is the Halloween tree. The Halloween tree in Frontierland is, it's got, I think it's orange and lit up and it has things in it. kind of just close to the Golden Horseshoe, just to the left of the Golden Horseshoe, you'll see the Halloween tree. It's there every year.
Nick (57:34.99)
That's so fun, I didn't even know that was a thing. I missed it. My last trip, I gotta pay attention next time I go.
Amy (57:39.203)
It is our little hidden gem.
Rachel (57:42.256)
Yep. So the Halloween tree, Ray Bradbury actually wrote that and said that for years he dreamt of having an actual Halloween tree at Disneyland. And on All Hallows' Eve of 2007, which also was the 35th anniversary of that novel, that wish came true. And Bradbury actually said, I belong here in Disneyland. Ever since I came here 50 years ago, I'm glad I'm going to be a permanent part of the spirit of Halloween at Disneyland. So there's even a little plaque underneath the tree to commemorate it. So super special.
Nick (57:42.382)
Very cool.
Nick (58:08.44)
That's awesome. Very cool.
Rachel (58:11.842)
Alright, another one I didn't know, number 10, and closing us out. In the movie Hocus Pocus, Sarah Sanderson's outfit was inspired by which Disney princess?
Nick (58:25.506)
I don't remember which one Sarah is. Is Sarah ish? Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rachel (58:29.746)
This is Sarah Jessica Parker.
Amy (58:33.431)
Amy? I'm gonna guess, it Sleeping Beauty?
Rachel (58:34.961)
Yes.
Rachel (58:38.928)
Yeah, that's correct. And I'm not, sorry, getting out of character here, but that's, did I misname the Sanderson sisters, her name not Sarah? Winifred, Sarah.
Nick (58:39.832)
That makes sense.
Amy (58:40.197)
Yay!
Nick (58:48.352)
I, when a friend is the, oldest one, hold on, I'll fact check.
Rachel (58:52.133)
older one and then there's the
Rachel (58:56.604)
I'm pretty sure it's Sarah. Like, did I just name her Sarah because of Sarah Jessica Parker? Nope, Sarah. Okay, perfect. Just making sure. Okay, and close. But yeah, you're right. No, it's fine. That's my fault. You're right, Amy, though. That was Aurora's as Sleeping Beauty. You'll find the sisters hosting their own show at Mickey's Not So Scary that Nick talked a little bit about. And then Minnie, Daisy, and Claire both also dress like the sisters over at Oogie Boogie Bash.
Nick (59:02.656)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you're right.
Nick (59:21.806)
I love it. We got to see them too. They joined Boo to You Parade last year. Minnie, Claire Bell, and Daisy in their Sanderson sister costume. People love the Sanderson sisters. They have a following for sure. And I love the passion that people have for them. So I didn't know that. That's really cool. That's good to know about her costume. I had no idea. I was trying to think of princesses that would have happened before Hocus Pocus came out. Cause Rapunzel popped into my head.
Rachel (59:26.918)
Yeah.
Amy (59:39.729)
Very fun.
Rachel (59:39.868)
receiver fund.
Nick (59:50.776)
but Rapunzel would have been after Hocus Pocus. So it's good stuff. I feel like Amy won.
Rachel (59:56.754)
All right, tallying this up here. So Amy, one, two, three, four, five, six, and Nick is one, two, three.
We tied, you guys tied because there were two two-fers, so you guys ended up tying. It makes sense. You guys are both equal experts in your field, so naturally we should have expected a tie. Let us know how you did at home.
Nick (01:00:10.548)
my gosh.
Hahaha.
Nick (01:00:21.144)
I have a hard time just ending this as a tie. Amy, stick around afterwards and we'll come up with a question.
Amy (01:00:28.917)
I guarantee you're going to win. Nick is definitely knows more of just Disney lore and tidbits and all that stuff. Or I am all like.
Rachel (01:00:31.964)
Kidding off, night breaker.
Nick (01:00:37.494)
I don't know, I'm really disappointed in my lack of 1939 knowledge that that year is gonna be embedded into my brain from now on. The Disney fans are gonna come after me for that one. But Amy is, she's saying all of these things. Amy knows more about Disneyland than any other person that I know. She is the expert truly when it comes to the Disneyland Resort. Anytime that I have a question about Disneyland, because I'm an East Coast guy, I'm like, Amy, please help. So you can...
Amy (01:01:03.569)
I do love it.
Rachel (01:01:04.626)
I'm going to echo that both of you are fantastic. We're so lucky to have you, not just the undercover tourists, but on this podcast. So thank you guys so much for being here. Nick (01:02:15.714)
Bye. Boo.
Amy (01:02:16.091)
Thank you, bye.
Rachel (01:02:18.63)
Boo! Alisa popped up and said,
Nick (01:02:20.856)
Ha ha ha.
Rachel (01:02:35.75)
Yep, so just adding tickets and resorts under savings.
Rachel (01:02:46.748)
vacation packages.
Nick (01:02:50.158)
and
Rachel (01:02:51.45)
I know, I went holiday in the middle of that. was like, great, Rachel, thanks for, my brain's on all the holidays. Yeah. Don't forget to head to UndercoverTourist.com to save on your Disney Halloween trip, including resort stays, tickets, vacation packages, and your party tickets, and for free resources to help you navigate the parties, including foodie guides, party itineraries, and more.
Nick (01:02:55.054)
They're all holidays, it's fine.
Nick (01:03:19.864)
Cool.
Rachel (01:03:22.884)
What else, Alison and Ryan?
Amy (01:03:47.217)
can't hear you Ryan if you are talking.
Nick (01:03:52.729)
We lost Ryan. He's like, yeah. He's like, actually, I have no idea what you guys said.
Rachel (01:03:54.53)
no, that'd be bad. Well, it'll record anyway, so he'd be able to.
Rachel (01:04:05.446)
Yeah, where'd he go? You guys did a great job. Thank you so much for being here.
Nick (01:04:09.74)
It was fun. I enjoyed it. Amy, you crushed it.
Rachel (01:04:12.966)
It was exactly what I envisioned by being more casual.
Nick (01:04:16.876)
Yeah, I liked it. It felt very like natural.
Amy (01:04:20.761)
You are so natural, Nick. You are like so good at just pulling all of this stuff out of the air in your brain and discussing it.
Nick (01:04:27.334)
Oh, I had my phone in front of me sometimes. Don't worry. But I, it's, it just, I do it every week. So to me, it's like, it's just fun just to hop on and talk to your friends. That's fine. It was a really fun conversation for sure.
Amy (01:04:30.253)
Amy (01:04:44.689)
I feel like I need to go back and look up when they did the Haunen Mansion 20 year thing, because they might have done it a year late because of the pandemic.
Nick (01:04:53.774)
Yeah, that makes sense. I'm going to go memorize this script finally to Tower of Terror. I've been hearing it for my entire life and I should have known 1939. Ticked about that. Gonna go do some pushups and just repeat 1939 the entire time.
Amy (01:05:03.61)
Right, I...
Amy (01:05:07.761)
I haven't heard it in a while, but I love that ride, so.
Nick (01:05:12.568)
So good. That was fun.
Rachel (01:05:13.618)
Every time you hear it now, you're gonna be like, dang, missed it.
Amy (01:05:15.857)
39. I know.
Nick (01:05:54.604)
I didn't know that was your first time. I wouldn't have never known. Good job, Amy.
Amy (01:05:58.427)
Thanks, yes, this is my first Pondcast.
Nick (01:06:00.737)
Wow. You and Taylor Swift debuting your first podcast, like within weeks of each other. Such icons. Queens.
Rachel (01:06:04.678)
I know, icons.
Rachel (01:06:11.794)
Truly. We'll give Ryan a minute to see if he had any feedback.
Nick (01:06:22.604)
I don't know if there's a way to see.
Rachel (01:06:25.061)
It should be.
Nick (01:06:29.154)
Yeah, says he's still here.
Rachel (01:06:31.088)
I can see that it says 99 % uploading. So I think that we're good-ish. So we might just need to hang out for a minute. So I think that it's recorded just fine. just, yeah, I'm worried about him. want to erase.
Nick (01:06:39.106)
Yeah.
Nick (01:06:48.914)
Yeah. Usually you can't like close out of the program. You can like, you can go, but usually you have to leave it on. So it's probably easier just to.
Rachel (01:06:48.998)
Yeah, we can give it a minute.
Nick (01:07:00.926)
rock with it. That was fun. Some good nuggets of information in there as well.
Rachel (01:07:04.262)
Yeah, thank you guys.
It's exactly what I wanted people to see, which is just a different way to showcase exactly what Nick's been trying to do on social, right? How smart and talented and full of this expertise you guys are.
Nick (01:07:16.46)
Yeah. Yeah. I think it'll be good to like in the future to do, it would have been helpful for me to have experienced, I one round of Mickey's not so scary first, just to have it like fresh on the mind. but I mean like it, it hasn't changed enough in order to not know what the heck I'm talking about. but I think like that helps a lot too is just to like,
Rachel (01:07:29.714)
Mm-hmm.
Amy (01:07:41.734)
Right.
Nick (01:07:50.934)
what we've experienced. Yeah.
Nick (01:08:06.146)
Yeah, which I think created fun banter too, because it like, you can, I think it, sometimes it's nice for the audience to have someone that is in the same boat as them, you know, like where they're like, you ask, like Amy asks really good questions about Walt Disney World, having not experienced some of the things before. And I'll have questions about Disneyland having not experienced some of the things. So I think there's value in both for sure. But I think like, yeah, I think like,
doing a run through of Mickey's not to scare. Like after this weekend, I'll be like, yeah, this is like, you know, we'll know like more updated things. I, like I, under the radar have heard that there's going to be a new float at Mickey's or bootie you this year, but I don't want to say that unless that's confirmed and at the actual party kind of thing. So yeah, right. It's yeah. Game on.
Rachel (01:08:54.278)
Yeah. And timing with this one was tricky just because you guys go on Friday, then you have the hop and then it's like, what are we going to… And then Amy doesn't have Halloween time until the 22nd, so it'd be the end of the month and then by then you start to get into HHN and I just wanted to get ahead of things, but I totally hear you that that's a…
Nick (01:09:05.282)
Yeah, totally. No, I think it's great. And I think like the conversation, would have never like, no one would know that this was recorded before all of those things anyways. Like we never were like speaking about specific things that people don't already know about. So
Rachel (01:09:23.815)
Yeah.
Rachel (01:09:29.615)
no.
Rachel (01:09:40.626)
I think so.
Nick (01:09:41.761)
Yeah.
I think you can, I think it has to finish, like it has to be at a hundred percent up unless Rachel, you know, something different. I think it has to be at a hundred percent upload, but you can still leave and then just leave the screen up and it'll, whoever's is finishing uploading, just don't exit out of Riverside until it says that it's been completely uploaded. So you can like,
Rachel (01:09:55.334)
Yeah.
Rachel (01:10:02.78)
Yeah, so if everyone but me leaves and I just stay here until it's 100, we should be good, is that right?
Nick (01:10:07.959)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I would also leave your I would leave Riverside open on your computer until maybe maybe you can like send a message and just say, hey, we're completely uploaded. And then that's when we can click out of Riverside. But you can leave the room.
Rachel (01:10:18.576)
Okay, so let's all like unmute. Yeah, let's all unmute, close our cams and all that and we should be good. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you guys. I'm excited and Ryan will have drafts to...
Nick (01:10:24.077)
Yeah. Yeah.
Rachel (01:10:30.37)
few days.
Nick (01:10:33.901)
I don't think so, because you technically are, yeah, you didn't, nothing, yeah, nothing of yours. Yeah.
Rachel (01:10:38.32)
Okay, as we just, can you guys hear me? Sorry, I unplugged myself. It says, heads up, new recording track created.
Amy (01:10:41.489)
Hmm.
Rachel (01:10:46.704)
it's still at 99 though. I think that's because I unplugged my mic. Never mind.
Amy (01:10:54.033)
So living on, so just close out the mic and the cam and just leave it in the background.
Rachel (01:11:01.136)
Okay, thank you guys so much. You did a great job. Appreciate it. Bye.
Nick (01:11:04.559)
Bye.
Amy (01:11:05.327)
Thank you. Bye.
